Principal

Jacob Smith
Jacob Smith began his teaching career in 2002 in Beaufort, South Carolina. He taught science at the district’s alternative school and coached football at Beaufort High School.
In 2003, he moved to Columbia to teach at Spring Valley High School in Richland County
School District Two. He taught science, health, physical education and coached varsity football and track.
In 2006, Smith was promoted to assistant administrator at SVHS. He managed disciplinary
issues, observed teachers, implemented professional learning, and assisted with transportation and special education needs.
Smith moved to Lexington School District Two in 2010 to serve as assistant principal of
Brookland–Cayce High School. A year later, he became the principal of BCHS.
During his tenure at BCHS, graduation rates went up 6.5% and end-of-course exam scores increased in biology, algebra, English and U.S. history. Smith introduced a community-wide mentoring program which supported students at risk of dropping out of school.
In 2013, Smith joined Lexington District One as an assistant principal at River Bluff High. In this role, he facilitated professional learning, evaluated and coached teachers, oversaw student transportation, supported scheduling, and managed student services such as discipline, safety, attendance and enrollment.
As a founding faculty member, Smith helped to develop and implement the credentialed EL Education program. He also serves as special education and 504 lead, assisting students with disabilities and their families. He developed an Emerging Administrators Program at RBHS to offer leadership training and mentoring to staff.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina.
He is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
He was named a “Lexington Leader” by Lexington Life magazine in 2020 and is a graduate of Leadership Lexington. He serves as committee chair for Lake Murray Young Life and on the board of Lexington’s “Kid’s Day” event.
Assistant Principals

Terrence Harris
Mr. Terrence Harris is a native of Spartanburg, SC. He is a loving husband and a proud father of three boys.
Mr. Harris is a diehard Gamecock fan and a three-time alumnus of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration. He began his career in education in 2004 as a social studies teacher at his alma mater, Mauldin High School, where he also served as the head boys’ track and field coach and assistant football coach. Mr. Harris transitioned from the classroom to administration in 2010 and has since served as an assistant administrator, assistant principal, and principal. He joined the leadership team at River Bluff in 2021.
Mr. Harris’ philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that all students deserve an engaging and nurturing educational experience that fosters academic achievement, personal growth, and college and career readiness. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, attending Gamecock football, basketball, and baseball games, and expanding his record collection.

Jenna Howell
Ms. Jenna C. Howell originates from Hickory Grove, SC where she grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work, of family, of love, and of the simple things in life. A graduate of York Comprehensive High School in 2004, Ms. Howell began her post-secondary journey at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC before transferring to the College of Charleston to complete a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education.
She began her teaching career at Berkeley High School before moving to Cane Bay High School in Berkeley County School District. Ms. Howell came to River Bluff High School in 2014 where she taught Psychology, Sociology, AP World History, and AP Psychology as a member of the Social Studies Department and International Relations as a member of the Center for Law and Global Policy Development. During this time, Ms. Howell developed a rich understanding of EL Education and refined an educational philosophy rooted in equity, personalized learning, and the ability of all students to achieve success across three dimensions; mastery of knowledge and skill, character, and high quality work.
Ms. Howell obtained a Masters of Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina in 2018 and became an Assistant Principal at River Bluff in 2019. She serves as an instructional leader devoted to the success of all Gator students.

Meg Huggins
Mrs. Meg Huggins is a local, graduating from Irmo High School in 1999. She attended University of Tennessee in Knoxville and continues to be our resident Big Orange Fan. She attended University of South Carolina for Grad School where she earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching for Social Studies and her Masters in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Huggins has spent her educational career in Lexington 1, starting at White Knoll High School, then Lexington High School as a Social Studies teacher. Meg has been a Gator since the beginning, starting as a Lead Teacher for the Center for Law and Global Policy Development when River Bluff opened in 2013. She then became an Assistant Principal in 2017, and Academic Dean of Innovation in 2019.
Meg loves her family, she calls them the Core 4: her husband Alex, and their 2 children. They love playing and watching sports and Mrs. Huggins loves all things summer!
Mrs. Huggins has long lived by the motto of "We can do hard things!". She has lived this out personally in her fight as a two-time breast cancer survivor, constantly modeling the power of showing up, and knowing the power of having a strong village in how it can support being your best self. This drives her philosophy around education focusing on our need to support students, regardless of circumstances, by creating educational experiences that are authentic, engaging, and create a sense of belonging and agency for all students.

Kathryn Robinson
Kathryn C. Robinson, a native of Atlanta, GA, is a 15-year educator and a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Business Marketing. After transitioning from the corporate sector, she became a South Carolina educator in 2007, starting as a CTE classroom teacher at Spring Valley High School in Richland School District Two. During that time, she obtained her Business Education Certification as a PACE graduate. Along with teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Robinson served as Head Competitive Cheer Coach and Assistant Girls Track and Field Coach. After six years in the classroom, Mrs. Robinson transitioned to the role of Technology and Learning Coach (TLC) in 2013, where she played a key role in implementing the district's 1:1 computing initiative and technology integration. She later moved into administration at Spring Valley High School in 2018, earning a Master’s in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina and obtaining her Secondary Principal Certification. Mrs. Robinson joined the River Bluff team in 2024. She and her husband are proud parents of five children who bring incredible joy to their lives.
