Principal

Jacob Smith
Jacob Smith began his teaching career in 2002 in Beaufort, South Carolina. He taught science at the district’s alternative school and coached football at Beaufort High School.
In 2003, he moved to Columbia to teach at Spring Valley High School in Richland County School District Two. He taught science, health, physical education and coached varsity football and track.
In 2006, Smith was promoted to assistant administrator at SVHS. He managed disciplinary issues, observed teachers, implemented professional learning, and assisted with transportation and special education needs.
Smith moved to Lexington School District Two in 2010 to serve as assistant principal of Brookland–Cayce High School. A year later, he became the principal of BCHS.
During his tenure at BCHS, graduation rates went up 6.5% and end-of-course exam scores increased in biology, algebra, English and U.S. history. Smith introduced a community-wide mentoring program which supported students at risk of dropping out of school.
In 2013, Smith joined Lexington District One as an assistant principal at River Bluff High. In this role, he facilitated professional learning, evaluated and coached teachers, oversaw student transportation, supported scheduling, and managed student services such as discipline, safety, attendance and enrollment.
As a founding faculty member, Smith helped to develop and implement the credentialed EL Education program. He also serves as special education and 504 lead, assisting students with disabilities and their families. He developed an Emerging Administrators Program at RBHS to offer leadership training and mentoring to staff.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina.
He is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
He was named a “Lexington Leader” by Lexington Life magazine in 2020 and is a graduate of Leadership Lexington. He serves as committee chair for Lake Murray Young Life and on the board of Lexington’s “Kid’s Day” event.
Assistant Principals

Keith Britton
This will be Keith Britton’s 5th year as a high school Assistant Principal and his 12th year in education. He believes that when students are engaged, provided real-world opportunities, and committed to growing as a learner there are no limits to what they can achieve.
Prior to being an assistant principal, he was a physical education teacher and coach in Fort Lupton, CO and in Colorado Springs, CO. Mr. Britton was born and raised in Colorado and just recently moved out to South Carolina with his family. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado and then continued to earn his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
He is happily married with four amazing kids and a black lab. He enjoys sports, movies, golf and spending quality time with his family.

Britt Collins
Britt Collins is local to Lexington County, with strong ties to the community. She is a proud graduate of Irmo High School, and The University of South Carolina. Mrs Collins started her educational career in the English classroom in Lex/Rich 5. She joined the River Bluff family in 2014 as an English teacher before moving into the role of Instructional coach in 2019 and then Student Activities coach in 2022. She was named an Assistant Principal in 2025,
Britt is married with three children, and enjoys spending time with family, hanging out on Lake Murray and traveling.
Mrs Collins firmly believes that strong, authentic relationships with students are the foundation of a thriving school community. By fostering trust, respect, and open communication, educators can create an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. She is passionate about empowering students to take ownership of their learning, equipping them with the confidence, voice, and leadership skills they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Terrence Harris
Mr. Terrence Harris is a native of Spartanburg, SC. He is a loving husband and a proud father of three boys.
Mr. Harris is a diehard Gamecock fan and a three-time alumnus of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration. He began his career in education in 2004 as a social studies teacher at his alma mater, Mauldin High School, where he also served as the head boys’ track and field coach and assistant football coach. Mr. Harris transitioned from the classroom to administration in 2010 and has since served as an assistant administrator, assistant principal, and principal. He joined the leadership team at River Bluff in 2021.
Mr. Harris’ philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that all students deserve an engaging and nurturing educational experience that fosters academic achievement, personal growth, and college and career readiness. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, attending Gamecock football, basketball, and baseball games, and expanding his record collection.

Meg Huggins
Mrs. Meg Huggins is a local, graduating from Irmo High School in 1999. She attended University of Tennessee in Knoxville and continues to be our resident Big Orange Fan. She attended University of South Carolina for Grad School where she earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching for Social Studies and her Masters in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Huggins has spent her educational career in Lexington 1, starting at White Knoll High School, then Lexington High School as a Social Studies teacher. Meg has been a Gator since the beginning, starting as a Lead Teacher for the Center for Law and Global Policy Development when River Bluff opened in 2013. She then became an Assistant Principal in 2017, and Academic Dean of Innovation in 2019.
Meg loves her family, she calls them the Core 4: her husband Alex, and their 2 children. They love playing and watching sports and Mrs. Huggins loves all things summer!
Mrs. Huggins has long lived by the motto of "We can do hard things!". She has lived this out personally in her fight as a two-time breast cancer survivor, constantly modeling the power of showing up, and knowing the power of having a strong village in how it can support being your best self. This drives her philosophy around education focusing on our need to support students, regardless of circumstances, by creating educational experiences that are authentic, engaging, and create a sense of belonging and agency for all students.

Kathryn Robinson
Kathryn C. Robinson, a native of Atlanta, GA, is a 15-year educator and a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Business Marketing. After transitioning from the corporate sector, she became a South Carolina educator in 2007, starting as a CTE classroom teacher at Spring Valley High School in Richland School District Two. During that time, she obtained her Business Education Certification as a PACE graduate. Along with teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Robinson served as Head Competitive Cheer Coach and Assistant Girls Track and Field Coach. After six years in the classroom, Mrs. Robinson transitioned to the role of Technology and Learning Coach (TLC) in 2013, where she played a key role in implementing the district's 1:1 computing initiative and technology integration. She later moved into administration at Spring Valley High School in 2018, earning a Master’s in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina and obtaining her Secondary Principal Certification. Mrs. Robinson joined the River Bluff team in 2024. She and her husband are proud parents of five children who bring incredible joy to their lives.

Kelly Smoak
Mrs. Kelly Smoak is a Lexington local and proud alumna of Lexington High School. She is a three-time graduate of the University of South Carolina, holding a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Master in Educational Administration.
She began her career at her alma mater, Lexington High School, where she served as a social studies teacher and softball coach. In 2013, she joined the inaugural faculty at River Bluff High School, continuing her work as a social studies teacher while also taking on the role of instructional coach.
Beyond her professional life, Mrs. Smoak finds joy and fulfillment spending time with her family. She enjoys spending her time playing baseball, weekend farming, and going to Disney with her husband and twin boys. Mrs. Smoak also loves to cheer on her beloved Gamecocks and will cheer for her husband’s Florida Gators.
Passionate about fostering an environment where every student can thrive, Mrs. Smoak is dedicated to helping students discover their unique talents and excel beyond their own expectations. She firmly believes that strong relationships are the cornerstone of all learning and is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside students, staff, and families.
