Law Center Students win “We the People” State Competition

River Bluff High students in Level Two at the school’s Center for Law and Global Policy Development won a statewide We the People competition on Thursday, January 7 that was sponsored by the South Carolina Bar Association’s Law Related Education Division.
RBHS students competed against 10 other teams in the competition, which required students to demonstrate their knowledge of constitutional principles and other aspects of American government during simulated congressional hearings. The students testified before a panel of judges that assessed students’ ability to evaluate, take and defend positions on historical and contemporary issues.
RBHS students won Best Overall Unit in three of out of the six unit competitions at the event. The students will travel in April to Washington, D.C., where the students will compete in the national We the People competition. We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution enhances students’ civic responsibility as well as their understanding of the American constitutional democracy.
RBHS students Melissa Byars, Reese Corry, Bradi Crockett, Sydney Crosby, Julia Dales, Ryan Eckstrom, Graylen Grant, Merrit Jones, Lillian Lawrence, Brendan Montesinos, John Simpson and Kimberly Vonada celebrate their win at the statewide We the People competition.

River Bluff High School
School Improvement Council

The RBHS School Improvement Council (SIC) serves as an advisory committee to our principal Dr. Luke Clamp and the RBHS faculty.

Our SIC goals:
• to support and encourage families and community members to be strong partners in our students’ learning

• to implement and support a back-pack program called Gators Giving Groceries (G3) to provide meals for students over the weekends

Please complete the nomination form below for you or for someone you know who is interested and willing to serve on the RBHS SIC. Return nominations to Mrs. Tara Black at River Bluff High School on or before Thursday, July 23, 2015.

Please use this nomination form for the 2015 – 2016 SIC Committee.

Elections will be held at registration on August 4 and make-up registration on August 12.

CLASS OF 2016 – SENIOR PICTURES

Senior Pictures

Monday, July 13 – Thursday, July 16

At River Bluff High School

Pictures will be taken in the PAC (Auditorium)

Times/Date of each seniors’ appointment will be assigned by STRAWBRIDGE and mailed to each student. Appointment cards will be mailed mid June.

If you need to reschedule your appointment to another time and/or date please contact STRAWBRIDGE at 866-624-6229.  If you do not get a card in the mail please call Strawbridge to schedule an appointment.

Formal Drape/Tux Pictures are required for the Yearbook – there is not a sitting fee to have these taken. Drapes/Tux will be supplied by Strawbridge. Strawbridge will send home proofs and handle all ordering.

Informal Pictures (in different outfits are optional and require a sitting fee).

You ARE NOT REQUIRED to have “informal pictures” taken – this is an additional service offered by Strawbridge to those interested.

(Please note:  The dates for these pictures were selected based on the availability of the photographer as well as the availability of the PAC facility.  We realize there is never going to be a group of days that will satisfy everyone and that many families have already planned summer vacations.)

There will be a make-up day scheduled after school starts back to take ONLY the formal drape/tux pictures for those seniors who are unable to attend the summer session.

To be included in the senior section of the yearbook all seniors are required to have this formal picture taken either at the summer session or on make-up day.

Thank you,

Monica Powell
