Sarah Wright – Director

Ms. Sarah Belt Wright began playing viola in the sixth grade in Kingsport, Tennessee. She is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and is a past participant of the Tennessee All-State Orchestra and the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. She was a student of Celia Bachelder.

She attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While at UTC she played viola in the University Orchestra and also played baritone in the UTC Marching Band. Upon graduation from UTC in 2001, she was hired by Hamilton County Schools in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to teach elementary strings at 5 schools and also assist teaching orchestra at Hixson High School. In the summer of 2003 she became the Director of Orchestras at Hixson Middle School and Hixson High School where she taught until the spring of 2005. She moved to Indianapolis in 2005 and was the Orchestra Director at Perry Meridian Middle School and Perry Meridian Sixth Grade Academy (2005-2014) with over 50% of the student population participating in band, orchestra or choir, Center Grove Middle School Central and Center Grove High School (2014-2015) and Lawrence Central High School (2015-2016).

​Ms. Wright has performed as a violist in the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, bassist with the Chattanooga Concert Band, and violist in the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. She has also played piano since age 7. She is thrilled to be back in the south after many years in the Midwest and is extremely excited to have the opportunity to teach at River Bluff High School.
